In the Matter of Proclaiming
September 5, 1991 as
JEFFERSON COUNTY
UNITED GOOD NEIGHBORS DAY

RESOLUTION NO, 86-91
WHEREAS, the history and tradition of the citizens and residents of
Jefferson County has always included a strong sense of helping our fellow neighbors
in need; and
WHEREAS, our County has experienced unprecedented growth over the
last decade bringing both new opportunities and problems for our neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Jefferson County is viewed as an ideal community by all who
visit, not just because of its beautiful environment, but because of its warm, friendly
and caring neighbors; and
WHEREAS, the Governor of Washington State has proclaimed September
4, 1991, as United Good Neighbor/United Way Day in recognition of the thousands of
generous and giving volunteers and contributors to these annual campaigns in every
community throughout our great State; and
WHEREAS, This proclamation also recognizes the tremendous need that
exists for thousands of our neighbors in basic needs, specialized counseling services,
health services, youth programs, senior activities and assistance and community
development activities; and
WHEREAS, the most effective assistance to those in need is to provide
the type of programs funded by the Jefferson County United Good Neighbors which
help people help themselves;
NOw, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, that the Board of Commissioners
of Jefferson County hereby proclaim September 5, 1991 as JEFFERSON COUNTY
UNITED GOOD NEIGHBOR DAY; and
BE IT FURTHER- RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners, in
recognition of the tremendous contribution made to improving the quality of life for
our citizens in need which are made by the generous contributions of time and money
of thousands of our citizens to the Jefferson County United Good Neighbors and the
more than 30 efficient and effective programs it supports, urges every citizen to make
a donation to the 1992 Jefferson County United Good Neighbor campaign,
