TRAVEL REGULATION CHANGES
The Office of the Administrator for ~he Courts (OAC) received
notice from the Office of Financial Management (OFM) that
several travel regulations will change July 1, 1990. These
changes will be as follows:
(1) ·Work place" is defined as the building where a
state employee normally performs his/her work.
(2) Payment for meals at meetings or training sessions
when they are away from an employee's work place
will be allowed. The meeting must be to conduct
state business or to provide formal training to
state employees. The meals must also be an integral
part of the meeting or session. This means that
meals can be paid even if the employee is still in
his/her official work station or residence, and/or
'the ·three hour 'thresholdu rule is not met.
(3) Mileage rate will increase to $:26/udle.
(4) Lodging for certain high cost areas will increase.
A complete list is attached.
(5) The lodging exception rule (75% rule) will add an
additional exception. Payment can be made for
actual lodging expenses when high seasonal rates are
in effect for a particular area. Payment can also
be made when international or national events result
in higher lodging expenses (i.e. Goodwill Games in
seattle).
The OAC Travel Rules and Regulations manual is being updated.
