RESOLUTION NO. 61-88
ESTABLISHING THE DATES OF 1989 BUDGET
SUBMISSIONS, REVIEW HEARINGS & FINAL ADOPTION
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 36.40.011, the Jefferson County
Board of Commissioners have selected the alternate date of the
first week in December to hold budget hearings for the purpose of
adoption of the Jefferson County Budget for 1989; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 36.40.010, the Jefferson County
Auditor shall notify in writing each elective or appointive
county off icial to file wi th her on or before the 12th day of
September, 1988, an estimated budget for the ensuing year, for
submission to the Board of County Commissioners by September 26,
1988; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that 1989 budget reviews shall be held
with the Department Heads as necessary during the months of
October and November and that during the first week in December
(December 5th - 9th) budget hearings shall be held and upon
conclusion of said hearings, the Jefferson County Budget for 1989
shall be adopted.

FRANK W. GARRED, being sworn, soys he is the publisher of
the Port T ownsendlJefferson County leader, a weekly
newspaper which has been established, published in the English
language and circulated continuously as a weekly newspaper
in the town of Port Townsend, in said County and State, and for
general circulation in said county for more than six (6) months
prior to the date of the first publication of the Notice hereto at-
tached, and that the said Port T ownsend/Jefferson County
leader was on the 27th day of June 1941, approved as a legal
newspaper by the Superior Court of said Jefferson County, and
that annexed is true copy of the

August 8:
Department Heads Receive Call for 1989 Budget Estimates.
Request also sent to non-departmental, hotel/motel and
special purpose districts for 1989 budgets.
September 12:
Department Heads submit completed budget requests to Auditor.*
September 26:
Auditor submits Preliminary Budget to Commissioners.
October 24/28:
Commissioners hear budget presentations by each department head.
November 21:
Hearings scheduled. Notice of Public Hearings published for two
consecutive weeks. Copy of preliminary budget available upon
request.
December 5:
1989 Final Budget Hearings begin.
December 9:
BOCC formally adopt 1989 Budget by resolution.
December 16:
Copy of final budget forwarded to the State Auditor1s Office.
Copy of final budget available upon request.
*R.C.W.36.40.010,030: Each elective and appointive Department Head must file an
estimated budget for the ensuing fiscal year with the County Auditor. If estimates
are not filed by the date required, the Auditor shall deduct and withhold as a penalty
from the salary of each official failing to comply, $10 for each day of delay, not to
exceed $50 in one (1) year.
