RESOLUTION NO. 49-04
WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Scale House Cash Drawer currently has a fund of $600, and
WHEREAS, an additional amount of $200 is needed for additional change for the Scale
House Cash Drawer to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Solid Waste Operations,
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Jefferson County Solid Waste Scale House Cash
Drawer amount be increased to $800 and the County Treasurer be authorized to issue a
Treasurer's check in the amount of $200 payable to the Jefferson County Solid Waste Fund.

Increase of the Solid Waste Scale House Cash Drawer Funds
Statement of Issue:
Currently, Solid Waste has a Cash Drawer of $600. Solid Waste has hired NW Security Company
(a bonded security company) to deposit receipts and get cash change for the Solid Waste Scale
House. The procedures that are required to handle deposits and cash change leave only $120 in
the cash drawer each morning. That amount is not adequate to handle transactions until NW
Security brings cash change. Solid Waste is therefore requesting an increase in the Cash Drawer
total to $800.
Analysis/Strategic Goals:
This request addresses goal no. 7b. Increasing the Scale House Cash Drawer shall increase the
effet.t.~veness and efficiency of the Scale House operation.

Alternatives:
1. Continue Solid Waste Scale House Cash Drawer at $600.
2. Approve the request to increase the Solid Waste Scale House Cash Drawer.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
None.
Recommendation:
The Solid Waste Department recommends approving the request to increase the Scale House
Cash Drawer to $800.
