This was brought to my attention by your employee, Ms. Kelly Larson, who I met on my way out She was here to identify the properties listed on the petition. As I understand your instructions for naming private roads in Jefferson County, "A majority of the property owners, addressed on the road, must sign the petition." I assume by address this refers to fire numbers. There are only four addresses/fire numbers assigned on this road. Two of the addressed petitioners Ms. Larson was verifying do not own property along the road in question. Of the remaining two addressed properties on this road, I was excluded. I completely support naming this private road. It should have been done years ago. However, it needs to be done in a systematic, appropriate manner with fuU..'--....._-'--_...._-,........,-,-,......,..,..,.. understanding of layout to aid in locating the properties so that fire, public safety, utility, delivery caITÌers, and county employees can properly find the addresses without roaming back and forth and having to back out hazardous, dead end roads. There are actually two roads in question. They both need to be named. The secondary road actually looks more traveled than the main road due to guests and trespassers and that is wIiãfëöñfuses people looking for an address. We are the only permanent residents and registered voters on either road. I continually need to re-direct lost drivers and recently this included delivery carriers & PUD No. 1 of Mason County. Last year, the Sheriff got lost and was delayed in responding to my call. I also do not support naming the main access road "Oleanna". This is the name the GoekelCawley/Lucketts have named their acreage & tree houses. It is also the name of a David Mamet play/movie about sexual harassment and I find this distasteful. Mr. Cawley is an occasional, out-of-state resident who is oblivious of the issues involved. I suspect that I was left out of this petition in retaliation for his recent run-in with the County for non-compliance of Health codes. If Mr. Cawley's petition is granted, I believe it will add further confusion. I have included maps that show both roads and all of the associated property parcels. Essentially, the main road comes in south off the Duckabush Road for about 500 feet where a spur makes a 9O-degree turn to the east on parcel # 502171020 (poloai). The spur continues across #502171024 (Gaffi1ey, fire number 1589) and continues across #502171005 (Gregory, fire number 1581A & B) to the Duckabush Exhibit "D" " ,. ,. River. Therefore, neither Gaffney or Gregory own frontage on the main access road and should not be accepted as signers on the petition. This spur also runs approximately along the east boundary of the Luckett/Goeke property (#50217200 I) where they have an entrance. The main road continues through the middle of the following properties #502172001 (Luckett/Goeke), #502172016 (Lopez, fire number 1587), #502172013, (Fissler), and #502172020 & 015 (Nixon). At this time, the road ends at the west end of the Nixon property due to bridge collapse over a stream and the next property owner, # 502172019 (Aurdal, fire number 1583) is wtable to drive to his property using this access road. The bridge collapse occurred several years ago and is currently being removed. I believe this is ajoint project of the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group/Jefferson County Community Development! Washington Fisheries and Wildlife. I understand that Mr. Awdal is also about to build another bridge in order to reach his property and will again be able to use the access road. Beyond the Aurdal properties, are several owned by the Duckabush Community, a large co-operative group. The parcel numbers are #502074006, 502074022 and 502074021. This group has not used the road to be named since the bridge collapse and have had temporary access to their parcels through the Wilderness Northwest property. Recently, a road was constructed to connect #502074006 (I believe) with Coyote Road for the Duckabush Community members to access their property. This road with the new Aurdal bridge will provide a loop connection from the access road to be named through Coyote Road back to the Duckabush Road. On the January 1988 survey, auditor's fee number 312566, the road to be named is shown as Coyote Road That may have been an error and naming this road Coyote Road would add confusion. I suggest that the spur road on which the Gaffiteyand Gregory properties are located and which borders the Luckett/Goeke east boundary be named per their choice, since they all have entrances off this spur. However, I would request that the main access road off the Duckabush Road have a different name to clear confusion. I understand one of the proposed names was Overbrook Lane. That would be suitable as would some derivative ofDuckabush such as Duckabush View Road or Duckabush Ridge Road. I find names like Oleanna and Willebugger to be insulting and disrespectful of the process. If need be, the process should be re-initiated with everyone involved, per your own rules.
