HomeMy WebLinkAbout061 04 J. 0'.'4 pW]/lII&/o~ c.c ~ { -€ û.- <s STATE OF WASHINGTON COUNTY OF JEFFERSON ill the Matter of: x Naming a Private Road X Luna Court X Resolution No. 61-04 WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has received a petition to name a private road Dragon's Den Court, Luna Court or Griffm Court as shown on attached Exhibit "A", pmsuant to Jefferson County Code 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance (Chapter 12.20); and WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name to allow for addressing along the road and eliminate confusion due to similar road names as required by Chapter 12.20; and WHEREAS, notification was sent to interested parties on October 11,2004; and WHEREAS, positive responses were received rrom JEFFCOM and Fire District #2 as shown on Exhibits "B" and "C" respectively; and WHEREAS, there were no responses rrom property owners along the road to be named; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the road, as shown on attached Exhibit "D", be named Luna Court. The 3 choices the petitioners submitted were Dragon's Den Ct, Luna Ct and Griffin Ct. After reviewing the names submitted, the first choice of Dragon Den Ct does not conform to the new ordinance that we are attempting to get in place because it is two names then the identifier. The third choice of Griffin Ct is too similar to Griffith Point in the Nordland area. The only acceptable choice is Luna court because it is not similar to other names already in existence and it conforms to the addressing ordinance that i~ under legal review. Fischbach, County Administrator From: Frank Gifford, Public Works Director 'FQ~ Agenda Date: 11/15/04 Subject: Petition to Name a Private Road Statement of Issue: A landowner has submitted a petition to name a private drive Dragon's Den Court, Luna Court or Griffin Court. This drive is approximately 0.15 miles long and exits westerly off Dietz Drive, at the end of the Toandos Peninsula, being in the northwest quarter of Section 3, Township 25 North, Range 1 West, W.M. Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: Research has revealed that there are currently no addresses assigned for this road. Notification letters were mailed out to affected agencies and all property owners of record along the road. JEFFCOM submitted a positive response for Luna Court or Griffin Court; Fire District #2 submitted a positive response for Luna Court; Central Services submitted a positive response for Luna Court. No responses were received from property owners along the road or other agencies. Naming the road meets strategic goal #6b. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: None Recommendation: The Department of Public Works, based on the positive response from JEFFCOM, Fire District #2 and Central Services, recommends that the Board of County Commissioners review the petition and comments received and name the road Luna Court by signing the attached resolution.
