RESOLUTION NO. 66-95

WHEREAS, Jefferson County Board of Commissioners on July 17, 1995 called for
bids for the above mentioned project, and;
WHEREAS, due notice of the call for bids was given as required by law, and;
WHEREAS, three bids were received and opened during public session on
August 7, 1995 at 11: 15 a.m., as shown in the attached bid tabulation, and;
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the people of Jefferson County to select the
most responsive of the two acceptable bids, now therefore,
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the best and most responsive bid was submitted by
Ace Paving Co., Inc., for a total bid amount of $570,265.45 and that this bid be accepted and
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, that the specifications and contract documents in
their entirety as included in the bid package, are part of this bid acceptance.

The Public Works Department has completed checking the bid for the above referenced
project and recommends that the contract be awarded to Ace Paving, Co., Inc. of
Bremerton, W A for their bid of $570,265.45.

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
CALL FOR BIDS
CHIMACUM ROAD, CR. 0953
(FEDERAL AID PROJECT NO. RS-QI61-(002))
Notice is hereby given that the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County, State of
Washington, will receive sealed bids up until the hour of 10:00 AM.. August 7. 1995 at the office
of the County Commissioners, Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, P.O. Box 1220, Port Townsend,
Washington, 98368, and will be then and there opened and read publicly after that date and time for
construction of improvements to 0.35 miles of Chima cum Road, County Road No. 932507, CR0953,
Federal Aid No. RS-QI61-(002), in Jefferson County, M.P. 0.06 to M.P. 0.41, by grading, draining,
and constructing storm sewers, curb and gutter, paving and various other work as described in the
Contract Documents.
Major items of work will be clearing and grubbing, grading, draining, constructing storm
sewers, cement concrete barrier curb and gutter, sidewalk, cement concrete approaches,
surfacing, paving with asphalt concrete, erosion control, pavement marking, and permanent
sIgnIng.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a surety bond, postal money order, cash, cashiers check or
certified check payable to the Treasurer of Jefferson County in the sum of 5% of the bid amount, to
be forfeited to Jefferson County by the successful bidder if he fails to enter into a contract and file an
acceptable surety bond in the amount of 100% of the contract price within twenty (20) days of the
award. The board of County Commissioners reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to
accept the bid deemed most advantageous to Jefferson County and to waive all informalities in the
bidding.
Bids shall be submitted in accordance with the plans and specifications on file at the office of the
Director of Public Works, Post Office bldg., Port Townsend, Washington, where copies may be
obtained by depositing $25.00. The deposit will be refunded if the plans and specifications are
returned in good condition within 10 days of bid opening.
The following is applicable to federal aid projects. Jefferson County in accordance with Title VI of
the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 87 Stat. 252, 42 u.S.C. 2000d to 2000-4 and Title 49, Code of Federal
Regulations, Department of Transportation, subtitle A, Office of the Secretary, Part 21,
nondiscrimination in federally assisted programs of the Department of transportation issued pursuant
to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered
into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded full
opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the
grounds of race, color or national origin in consideration for an award.
