IN THE MATTER OF ESTABLISHING }
A SPECIAL REVENUE FUND FOR THE }
PURPOSE OF THE SHERIFF DEPARTMENT'S}
BOATING SAFETY PROGRAM }
RESOLUTION NO. 73-95
WHEREAS, RCW 88.02.040 states that the Washington state parks and
recreation commission has been directed to establish a process to review and improve local
boating safety programs and to make funds available to local jurisdictions to offset out-of-county
boater impacts; and,
WHEREAS, WAC 352-65-010 outlines the program's purpose, description,
assurances and requirements for said boating program; and,
WHEREAS, The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department has received a sum in the
amount of $34,000 for the sole purpose of establishing a Boating Safety Program in Jefferson
County; and,
WHEREAS, it appears that in order to properly account for the costs of the
boating safety program as outlined in WAC 352-65-010, a special revenue fund should be
established to ensure that the funds received are used solely for supporting the jurisdiction's
boating safety programs, and that said funds do not supplant existing local funds used for that
purpose.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County
Commissioners of Jefferson County have determined that it is in the best interest of Jefferson
County that a BOATING SAFETY PROGRAM FUND be established and aU revenues and
expenditures relating to the Boating Safety Program be processed through said fund.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Treasurer is hereby authorized
to establish a fund to be know as the BOATING SAFETY PROGRAM FUND (#107-000-010)
with the $34,000 received by the Sheriff's Department for said program. The County Auditor is
hereby authorized to disburse funds from the established cash balance of said account as directed
by the Board of County Commissioners, effective immediately.
