Recently, representatives from the Assessor (Jeff), the Treasurer (Ila & Rosine), and from Data Processing (Elaine) went to Mason County in order to observe their microfilm system and see how it interfaced with Compu- Tech. They concluded that a similar system would work well within the Treasurer's and the Assessor's Departments here in Jefferson County. For hardware, the equipment needed is: 1. a multi-medium reader/printer stationed wi thin the Assessor I s front office for both departments to share. 2. A microfiche (COM and 16/35 mm jacket) reader stationed within the Treasurer's front office. The Assessor's office is currently having 65,000 of its property record cards (1/2 sets or 50% of the total) microf iched by the State. In order to view these fiche, one of the pieces of hardware all ready mentioned will have to be purchased. In order to expedite matters, the Assessor recommends purchasing at least one of these items out of the 1987 budget (Assessor) which has enough funds to cover the expense. We are currently scheduling vendors to demonstrate machines and price schedules.
