SETTING MAXIMUM DOLLAR AMOUNT FOR PAYMENT OF
MEETING PLACE RENTAL FOR QUALIFIED VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS
FROM THE SOLDIERS' AND SAILORS' RELIEF FUND
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 73.04.080,
the County 1S
authorized to pay through the Jefferson County Soldiers' and
Sailors' Relief Fund to any post, camp or chapter of any national
organization of veterans now, or which may hereafter be, chartered by
an act of congress which is qualified to accept relief from the
Jefferson County Soldiers' and Sailors' Relief Fund, the payment of
the rent for its regular meeting place.
WHEREAS, 1n order to prevent the levying of an additional
tax to cover the costs incurred in the funding of the said Relief
program, the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners feel it in the
best interest of all concerned to set a maximum amount of $240.00
per calendar year that any such qualified Veterans group can receive
for payment of the rent for its regular meeting place.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that any post, camp
or chapter of any veterans organization which is qualified to accept
relief from the Jeffer"son County Soldiers' and Sailors' Relief Fund
may draw on such fund in the maximum amount of $240.00 per calendar
year for payment of rent for a regular meeting place, provided that
no post, camp or chapter shall draw such funds for this purpose
where such post, camp or chapter is furnished quarters by the State
or Jefferson County.

73.04.110. Free license plates for disabled veterans, prisoners of war-
Penalty
Any person who is a veteran as defined in RCW 41.04.005 who submits to
the department of licensing satisfactory proof of a service-connected dis-
ability rating from the veterans administration and:
(1) Has lost the use of both hands or one foot;
(2) Was captured and incarcerated for more than twenty-nine days by an
enemy of the United States during a period of war with the United States;
· (3) Has become blind in both eyes as the result of military service; or
(4) Is rated by the veterans administration and is receiving service-con·
nected compensation at the one hundred percent rate that is expected to
exist for more than one year;

lIcensmg. The special lIcense' plates shall bear distinguishing marks
l~tters, or numerals indicating that the motor vehicle is owned by ~
dIsabled veteran or former prisoner of war. This license shan be issued
annua~ly for one personal use vehicle without payment of any license fees
or eXCIse tax thereon. Whenever any person who has been issued license
plates under the provisions of this section applies to the department for
transfe~ of the plates to a subsequently acquired motor vehicle, a transfer
fee of fIVe dollars shan be charged in addition to all other appropriate fees.
The .depa:tment m~y periodically verify the one hundred percent rate as
provIded III subsectIOn (4) of this section.
!>-ny p~rson .who has been issued free motor vehicle license plates under
thIS sectIOn prIOr to July 1, 1983, shall continue to be eligible for the annual
free license plates.
For the purposes of this section, "blind" means the definition of "blind"
used by the state of Washington in determining eligibility for financial
assistance to the blind under Title 74 RCW.
Any unauthorized use of a special plate is a gross misdemeanor.
