RESOLUTION NO. 20-86
Changing the Name of the Port Townsend Recreation Center to
THE PORT TOWNSEND COMMUNITY CENTER
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners
established the Port Townsend Community Center Advisory Board to act
as advisors to the Board of County Commissioners on all matters
related to the Port Townsend Recreation Center, and
WHEREAS, the Port Townsend Community Center Advisory Board has
been meeting on a regular basis since it's establishment and has been
reviewing the programs and activities of the Center with a view of
making the best use of existing facilities to meet the present and
future needs of the population, and
WHEREAS, during the Port Townsend Community Center Advisory
Board's February 3, 1986 meeting, Memorandum #86-1 was passed
recommending that the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners change
the name of the Port Townsend Recreation Center to the Port Townsend
Community Center; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Jefferson County Board of County
Commissioners accepts the Advisory Board's recommendation and the
name of the Port Townsend Recreation Center shall be the PORT
TOWNSEND COMMUNITY CENTER.

For the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners
SUBJECT: Recommendation for Name Change of the Port Townsend
Recreation Center
The Port Townsend Community Center Advisory Board, after due
consideration, recommends that the County Commissioners take formal
action to change the name of the Port Townsend Recreation Center to
the PORT TOWNSEND COMMUNITY CENTER. The Board is of the unanimous
opinion that the word "Community II represents a more accurate
description of the purpose of the Center since its' function, in
fact, is one of broad common use, rather than being simply a place
for recreation.
