RESOLUTION NO. 99-85
SUPPORT OF
SISTER CITY WEEK IN PORT TOWNSEND
WHEREAS, cultural and humanitarian exchanges with foreign
countries have historically been a valuable United States foreign
relations and educational tool; and,
WHEREAS, Sister City relationships have been established
by a number of communities in this State as a means of encouraging
cultural and humanitarian exchanges; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has established a Sister
City relationship with the town of Jalapa in Nicaragua,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jefferson County Board of County
Commissioners applauds and supports the City of Port Townsend for
its efforts to affect a mutual cultural and humanitarian relationship
with its Sister City of Jalapa, Nicaragua.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we support the Mayor of Port
Townsend in his proclamation of the week of December 14 to 2~ 1985 as
Sister City Week in Port Townsend.
Adopted the 16th day of December, 1985.
