RESOLUTION NO. 55-86
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A DRUG FUND
FOR THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Superior and District Courts
have adopted the practice of requiring drug offenders to pay
certain penal ty assessments, directing that said sums be
deposited in a special fund to be used for drug abuse
investigation and prosecution, and
WHEREAS, it would be advantageous to the citizens of
Jefferson County to have the monies thus contributed by drug
offenders made available to the Jefferson County Prosecutor ~or
use in drug investigation and prosecution, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Jefferson County Treasurer be
directed to create a special fund to be known as the Prosecuting
Attorney's Drug Fund. The Prosecuting Attorney or his Deputy
shall be authorized to draw from said fund such monies as have
been contributed by drug offenders; such monies shall be
available only for use in drug investigations and prosecutions.
Records regarding monies drawn from the account shall be kept by
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and shall include
identification of the case involved, an explanation of the
expenditure, the serial number of each bill used and the exact
date and name of the payee.
