83-86
A RESOLUTION DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE
HOOD CANAL REGIONAL PLANNING POLICY
AS THE OFFICIAL POLICY FOR GUIDING ACTIVITIES OF THE
HOOD CANAL COORDINATING COUNCIL
WHEREAS, it is the intention of local jurisdictions within the Hood
Canal Region to carry out Hood Canal watershed management in a consistent
and cooperative manner in order to help assure maximum cost effectiveness
of public expenditures and to better achieve mutually desired planning
objectives; and
WHEREAS, the Hood Canal Coordinating Counci I, of which Jefferson County
is a member, has adopted a Hood Canal Regional Planning Policy to use in its
efforts to maintain, preserve, and enhance Hood Canal; and
WHEREAS, the Hood Canal Coordinating Counci I has fulfi lied the
directive set forth in the Washington State Ecological Commission Report,
"The Future of H.:>od Canal;" and
WHEREAS, the Hood Canal Coordinating Counci I is a model for cooperative
interjurisdictional efforts and may form the basis for programs enhancing
and mitigating water qual ity in Hood Canal;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hood Canal Regional Planning
Pol icy be endorsed by Jefferson County as the official policy of the
Hood Canal Coordinating Counci I.
FURTHER, that the Hood Canal Coordinating Counci I wi I I use the Hood
Canal Regional Planning Pol icy as a guide as it works with member
jurisdictions and state agencies on implementing strategies.
FURTHER, that Jefferson County wi I I work with the Hood Canal
Coordinating Counci I as it uti lizes the Hood Canal Regional Planning Pol icy
as a guide for implementing programs consistent with the cleanup,
preservation, and enhancement of Hood Canal.
