HomeMy WebLinkAbout01 84 C-&i l1t'(1¡,-C~ / - d. 5>-811 --- ...... ORDINANCE NO. 1-84 AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING A CHARGE OF TEN DOLLARS ($10.00) FOR CHECKS RETURNED TO COUNTY OFFICES. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, JEFFERSON COUNTY, WASHINGTON: SECTION 1 PURPOSE It is a convenience to the public to be allowed to make payments to various County offices in the form of a check. When such offices receive a non-negotiable check it is necessary for the receiving office to expend time and effort correcting records and contacting the makers of such checks. The costs of reprocessing non-negotiable checks should not be born by the taxpayers of Jefferson County, costs should be born by the makers of such non-negotiable checks. SECTION 2 AUTHORIZATION The offices of Jefferson County are hereby autho- rized to make a charge of Ten Dollars ($10.00) whenever it is necessary to reprocess a non-negotiable check. SECTION 3 EFFECTIVE DATE ~ This Ordinance shall take effect on January 1, 1984.
