ORDINANCE NO. 1-84
AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING A CHARGE OF TEN DOLLARS ($10.00)
FOR CHECKS RETURNED TO COUNTY OFFICES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, JEFFERSON COUNTY, WASHINGTON:
SECTION 1
PURPOSE
It is a convenience to the public to be allowed
to make payments to various County offices in the form of a
check. When such offices receive a non-negotiable check it
is necessary for the receiving office to expend time and effort
correcting records and contacting the makers of such checks.
The costs of reprocessing non-negotiable checks should not be
born by the taxpayers of Jefferson County, costs should be born
by the makers of such non-negotiable checks.
SECTION 2
AUTHORIZATION
The offices of Jefferson County are hereby autho-
rized to make a charge of Ten Dollars ($10.00) whenever it is
necessary to reprocess a non-negotiable check.
SECTION 3
EFFECTIVE DATE

This Ordinance shall take effect on January 1, 1984.
PASSED by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of
Jefferson, signed by the Commissioners and attested to by the Clerk
of he Board in authorization of such passage this ~~ day of
