RESOLUTION NO. 37-83
THORNDYKE BAY SLIDE AREA
Moratorium on Building
WHEREAS, certain soi I and geological conditions exist within portions of
Cedarholm Vii la Tracts, Thorndyke Bay Short Plats 1 through 4, and adjacent
properties within Section 19, Township 27 North, Range 1 East, W.M.; and
WHEREAS, such conditions have caused damage to existing property improve-
ments and impose a threat to future property improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Coastal Zone Atlas identifies this area as
having critically unstable slope characteristics; and
WHEREAS, future activities and improvements may further aggravate the
situation that currently exists.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that no further development activity be
permitted or authorized within this area of slope instabi lity in Section 19,
Township 27 North, Range 1 East, W.M. as identified in the Washington State
Coastal Zone Atlas.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the boundaries of said soi I condition shal I
include the area identified by the Washington State Coastal Zone Atlas slope
stability map as "critical" and "very critical" (see copy attached) and shall
extend fifty feet northwesterly of the uppermost scarp.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution may be recinded upon assurance
and demonstration under the direction of a licensed civi I engineer or geologist
knowledgeable in the practice of soi Is and or geological engineering that slope
stabil ity can be accompl ished.
