RESOLUTION NO. 55-83
TEMPORARY STRUCTURES
WHEREAS, each year, Jefferson County receives requests to estab-
lish temporary facilities for the sale of seasonal items such as fireworks
or farm produce; and
WHEREAS, said facilities may create a nuisance or hazard to the
public if inappropriately located, constructed, or used; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public's interest that said facilities be
formally reviewed and approved prior to their establishment; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that, prior to locating a temporary facility for
the sale of seasonal items within the jurisdictional boundaries of
Jefferson County, written permission shall be received from the Jefferson
County Board of Commissioners; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such permission shall only be
granted for a period of thirty (30) days or less from the date of approval.
After this initial approval, a one-time extension, not to exceed thirty
(30) days, may be granted upon written request; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that, prior to the granting of approval,
the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners shall inquire into the
location, access, parking, signs, illumination, type of commodity for sale,
length of time the facility is required, and other pertinent information,
and forward said information to appropriate departments and agencies for
review and comment.
