RESOLUTION NO. 61-83
HEARING NOTICE
BUDGET APPROPRIATION
CONTRIBUTION TO FAIR TOLL COALITION
WHEREAS, the Hood Canal Bridge Toll is considerèd excessive and
inequitable at the present rate set by the Department of Transportation;
and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 144-82 was signed on the 22nd day of
November, 1982, by the Board of Jeffèrson County Commissioners, to provide
the sum of $2,000.00 for the Fair Toll Coalition to assist with legal
expenses incurred in their action against the Washington State Department
of Transportation to achieve equity in the setting and administration of
tolls collected on the Hood Canal Bridge; and
WHEREAS, the said amount of $2,000.00 was never in fact submitted
to the Fair Toll Coalition in 1982 and it is in the best interest of the
Jefferson County residents that said appropriation be paid out of the 1983
Current Expense Budget; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that an emergency is hereby declared to provide
the sum of $2,000.00 to be contributed to the Fair Toll Coalition to assist
with legal expenses incurred in their action against the Washington State
Department of Transportation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held on Monday,
July 11, 1983, at the hour of 11:00a.m., in the Commissioners' Chambers,
Courthouse, Port Townsend, Washington, at which time any taxpayer may appear
to speak for or against the said appropriation.
