RESOLUTION NO. 65-83
DESIGNATION OF ACTING PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
WHEREAS, due to the retirement of the County Public Works
Director and the resignation of the County's only licensed professional
engineer on the road department staff, it is necessary to designate an
"acting" county road engineer to perform the duties of the Public Works
Department and to contract for a licensed professional engineer to provide
engineering services for an interim period not to exceed six months; and
WHEREAS, Gary A. Rowe has been employed by the County Public
Works Department for the past eight years, has served in the capacity of
Construction and Office Engineer for the past three and one-half years,
and has the knowledge and experience to perform the duties of the Public
Works Director during the intermediate period; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has agreed to contract with
the County for engineering service on a part-time basis, to be provided by
their Public Works Director, who is a licensed professional engineer; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners,
that Gary A. Rowe is hereby appointed to serve as the "Acting" Public Works
Director for Jefferson County until such time as the vacancy in the office
has been filled as per RCW 36.80.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an Inter-Local Agreement be entered
into by and between Jefferson County and the City of Port Townsend for part-
time licensed professional engineering 'service for a period not to exceed
six months, to be performed by the City Public Works Director.
