RESOLUTION NO. 121-83
HEARING NOTICE
BUDGET EXTENSION - COUNTY FAIR
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Fair has requested a budget
extension in the amount of $8,500.00 to pay for expenditures not anticipated
at the time of preparing the 1983 Budget o£ Expenditures; and
WHEREAS, the amount of $8,500.00 is available in the County Fair
Unencumbered funds, and it appears there is an emergency to provide this
sum for operating expenses; and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners has deter-
mined that such an extension is in the best interest of the public; now,
therefore,
SEAL:
BE IT RESOLVED, that an emeregency is hereby declared for the
purpose of extending the County Fair Budget of Expenditures by the sum of
$8,500.00 for expenditures not previously anticipated; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held in the
County Commissioners' Chambers, Courthouse, Port Townsend, Washington, on
the 27th day of December, 1983, at the hour of 11:00a.m., and that notice
of said hearing be published in the official newspaper of Jefferson County,
and that at said hearing any interested taxpayer may appear and be heard
for or against the extension for such alleged emergency.

In the sunmer of 1982 when the 1983 budget for the
fair wa:~ formula ted the metl'lbers of the fair board had J"ecently
finisb.ed the new Cornmercial Building and did not contemplate
any major capital improvements in 1983. Subsequently, however,
~-Je applied for and obtained a speci9l allocation from the stRte
Department of ~griculture w~ich was used, with other funds, to
erect another much needed bui1ding.T'hus, one might say, it is
the ent1,J'Jsiasm of t'18 fair board nlGrnbers and tn,eir capacity for
work which makes it necessary to reouest a budget extension of
un8ncumbered funds.

Please be advised that after a thorough examination of my current budget
it appears that the budgeted amount in BARS Account Number
of $ 8500. - of the Cð ~ Io,)~ '1F 4 I R.... Fund is, insufficient. to pay
necessary expenses of this department for this year. After a careful
examination of the expenditures under this fund in previous years, and a
thorough examination of the present needs of this department under the
current year, I estimate that it 'will be necessary to have an additional
appropriation in the form of an emergency appropriation in the approxi-
mate amount of $ 8$0.0. - for this current year for the following
reasons: ?
