HomeMy WebLinkAbout077 82 c;.c. ..J' j\.a,~ :::~~.,J R Vi'! ):::",~,,,, Chf¡,·#,,~ RESOLUTION NO. 77-82 7/2.")./"$2.. p~A RESOLUTION ESTABLISEING PROSECUTING ATTORNEY'S VICTIM/WITNESS FUND WHEREAS, the 1982 Washington Legislature has passed and the Governor has signed Second Substitute House Bill No. 828, and WHEREAS, said Bill contained an emergency clause and became effective on March 29, 1982, and WHEREAS, said Bill provides that each Court of competent juridiction shall impose a penalty assessment upon each convicted person a sum of $50.00 for felony or gross misdemeanor convictions and $25.00 for misdemeanor convictions, and WHEREAS, the Clerk of the City Court, District Court and Superior Courts are directed by said Bill to monthly transmit said funds to the County Treasurer, and WHEREAS, said Bill provides that 20% of said penalty assessments shall be provided to the Prosecuting Attorney to be used exclusively for comprehensive programs to encourage and facilitate testimony by the victims of, and witnesses to crimes, and WHEREAS, said Bill requires that 20% of said penalty assessment funds shall supplement and shall not supplant existing local funds, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the County Treasurer is hereby directed to establish the Jeffer- son County Prosecuting Attorney's Victim/Witness Fund to be used exclusively for the administration of a Victim/Witness Program by the Jeffersön County Prosecuting Attorney and that said funds shall supplement and shall not supplant any existing funds for the Prosecuting Attorney; IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Prosecuting Attor- ney shall submit to the Department of Labor and Industries for approval, a comprehensive program for victims and wit- VOL ~o' I'~r" \ ''-'- o ·iö5f· r- nessess of crimes; that he shall submit an appropriate budget for said funds and that the expenditure of said fund shall be subject to approval of the program by the Department of Labor and Industries and subject to the adoption of said budget.
