RESOLUTION NO. 137-82
HEARING NOTICE
BUDGET APPROPRIATION - CONTRIBUTION TO FAIR TOLL COALITION
WHEREAS, the Hood Canal Bridge Toll of $2.50 one way, as
assessed by the Department of Transportation, is con~idered to be
inequitable and disadvantageous to the Olympic Peninsula and Jefferson
County residents, and bridge tolls should not be used to subsidize the
ferry system; and
WHEREAS, the Fair Toll Coalition has filed a motion for a
temporary restraining order and a complaint for declaratory judgement
and will pursue a lawsuit against the Department of Transportation
regarding a toll adjustment; and
WHEREAS, the Fair Toll Coalition, performing on behalf of
Olympic Peninsula, and therefore Jefferson County, residents, has
requested a monetary contribution to be applied to legal fees; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the County B08,rd of Commissioners, that
said contribution woulá be to the advantage of Jefferson County, and
that $2,000.00 be appropriated from 501 Unencumbered Funds and that a
budget for 1982 be established for thes~ funds to be contributed to
the Fair Toll Coalition; and, further,
BE IT RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held on Monday,
November 22, 1982 at the hour of 11:30 a.m. in the Commissioners'
Chambers, County Courthouse, Port Townsend, Washington, at which time
any taxpayer may appear to speak for or against said appropriation.
