RESOLUTION NO. 35-81
BUDGET TRANSFER - PLANNING DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, there is a need to adjust the 1981 Budget of Expenditures
for the Planning Department to enable compensation for contractura1 consu1t-
ant services performed beyond that which was anticipated; and
WHEREAS, due to there being sufficient funds in the Zoning and
Land Use, Personal Services, Associate Planner I catagory of their budget
to permit the essential adjustment; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners,
that the Auditor be, and she is hereby authorized to make the transfer as
follows:

MEMORANDUM
TO: Board of County Commissioners

DATE: March 26, 1981 .
SUBJECT: Consultant Services, M.A. Sherif
The attached invoice received from M.A. Sherif is for his professional services
rendered in connection with the Northern Tier pipeline contested case hearings. The
1981 budget had anticipated $1000,00 for conclusion of Dr, Sherif's work, including
his testimony. On March 3, 1981 the county contracted with Dr. Sherif for additional
analysis due to new information provided by Northern Tier. Dr. Sherif, by evidence
of the attached invoice, exceeded the time and funds available to complete his analysis.
The additional time spent was necessary in the preparation of his testimony. To com-
pensate Or. Sheri f for the work performed for Jefferson County, the fo Howi ng acti on
should be taken:
1. Amend the p er¡gon ] servi ces contract dated March 3, 1981 to increase the contract

2. Transfer $3,1 .. 0 from Budget Category 517.60.11.02 (associate planner) to

The abové action will retain a clear audit trail and compensate Dr. Sherif for
services he provided on behalf of the county. The transfer of funds from the unfilled
pl~nner's position will obviate the need for a budget extension.
