RESOLUTION NO. 109-80
ORDER
Budget Appropriation - Sheriff's Department
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, Jefferson County, did,
on the 5th day of August, 1980, declare that an emergency existed to provide
additional funds for the Sheriff's Department in the sum of $24,972.00, and
set a hearing on said emergency for Monday, August 18, 1980, at the hour of
10:30a.m.; and
WHEREAS, notice of said hearing was published in the local news-
paper as required by law; and
WHEREAS, this being the time and place set for said hearing, and
no objection or objection interposed;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED, by the Board of County Commissioners,
that there be and there is hereby appropriated for the Jefferson County
Sheriff's Department budget the sum of $24,972.00, from the unencumbered
fund balance of Current Expense account No. 501, to be reimbursed by Wash-
ington State Ferries for traffic control at South Point; and be it
FURTHER ORDERED, that the County Auditor be, and she is hereby
empowered to draw warrants against the following account, not exceeding the
gross amounts so appropriated unless a review is applied for within five
days from date hereof:

Pl~ase be advised that after a thorough examination of my current budget
it appears that the budgeted amount in BARS Account Number ~.70
of $ .00 of the Ourrent Expense Fund is insufficient to pay
necessary expenses of this department for this year. After a careful
examination of the expenditures under this fund in previous years, and a
thorough examination of the present needs of this department under the
current year, I estimate that it will be necessary to have an additional
appropriation in the form of an emergency appropriation in the approxi-
mate amount of $24.972.00 for this current year for the following
reasons:
Increased traffic >>roblems atSoutll Point, due to full-time ferry
traffic, must proTide approximately 14 aours per day increased traffic
cOlltrol in tais area. :Budget is for additional-traffic deputies for
weekends and aeaVY' traffic use tiJlles until the end of 1980. !ais is
during weekends and holidays, but also during peak hours almost daily.
Accordingly, I request permission from the Board of County Commissioners
for an emergency appropriation in the sum of $ 24,972.00 for the cur-
rent year. .
