RESOLUTION NO. 77-79
EMERGENCY BUDGET APPROPRIATION
LAW LIBRARY
SETTING OF HEARING DATE
WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Jefferson County Law Library has
requested an emergency budget extension due to their budget for 1979 having
insufficient funds to meet additional expenditures to cover costs incurred
to provide current volumes; and
WHEREAS, expenditures for the Law Library are unpredictable as
the cost of keeping the volumes current is an automatic expense and some
years the costs are considerably higher and not foreseeable at the time of
preparing the budget; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the Board of County Commissioners that an
emergency exists and the sum of $800.00 is necessary to meet such emergency
and is for the best interests of Jefferson County that an appropriation be
made; and
WHEREAS, the Law Library Fund has a cash balance at the present
time of well over $800.00; therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that an emergency is hereby declared, that an
appropriation of $800.00 be made for the Jefferson County Law Library to be
used for law books.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held on said
emergency appropriation and that said hearing be held in the County Commis-
sioners' Chamber of Jefferson County on the 4th day o~ September, 1979, at
the hour of 10:30a.m., and that notice of said hearing be published in the
official newspaper of Jefferson County, and that, at said hearing any inter-
ested taxpayer may appear and be heard for or against the appropriation for
such alleged emergency.

Gentlemen:
Please be advised that after a thorough examination of my current budget
it appears that the budgeted amount in BARS Account Number 512.70.30
of $2,000.00 of the T.AW T.TRRARY Fund is insufficient to pay
necessary expenses of this department for this year. After a careful
examination of the expenditures under this fund in previous years, and a
thorough examination of the present needs of this department under the
current year, I estimate that it will be necessary to have an additional
appropriation in the form of an emergency appropriation in the approxi-
mate amount of $ 800.00 for this current year for the following
reasons:
I have very little control over expenditures for the Law Library as
the cost of keeping the volumes current is an automatic expense. Some'
years the changes are considerably higher and not forseeable at budget
time. '
Thi$ fund has a cash balance at the present time of well over $800.00.
Accordingly, I request permission from the Board of County Commissioners
for an emergency appropriation in the sum of $ 800.00 for the cur-
rent year.
