PROCEDURE IN AWARDING CONTRACTS
WHEREAS, Chapter 267, Laws of 1977, lst Executive Session
authorizes the dispensing of certain previous requirements for the
letting of contracts, leases, and purchases involving less than $3,500.00
as ordered by the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, compliance of said Law minimizes the expenses
incurred under the amended regulations, and is therefore, in the best
interest of the county; now,
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED, by the Board of Jefferson County
Commissioners that:
1) In the letting of any contract, lease or purchase
involving less than three thousand five hundred dollars,
advertisement and competitive bidding shall not be
required;
2) Notice of intention to let contracts, or to enter
into lease agreements involving amounts exceeding
$1,000.00, but less than $3,500.00, shall be posted
by the Board of County Commissioners on a bulletin board
in their office not less than three days prior to making
such lease or contract;
3) Telephone and /or written quotations shall be secured
from enough vendors to assure establishment of a
competitive price and for awarding such contracts for
purchase of materials, equipment or services to the
lowest responsible bidder.

4) Immediately after the award is made the bid quotations
obtained shall be recorded and open to public inspection
and shall be available by telephone inquiry.
