HomeMy WebLinkAbout025 78 " ~(;i RESOLUTION NO. ~~?g/ A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE NEED FOR AN EMERGENCY BUDGET EXTENTION FOR THE JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFFIS DEPARTMENT AND THE SETTING OF THE HEARING DATE THERE ON. WHEREAS, a Cooperative Law Enforcement Agreement was entered into on the 6th day of February, 1978, by and between Jefferson County and the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, to provide the maximum co- operation possible that will assure the protection of persons and property on lands within or a part of any unit of the National Forest System which is partially or wholly in the County of Jefferson and Clallam for which the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department has the responsibility of enforcement; and WHEREAS, the need to provide said protection for the persons and property involved creates an emergency which could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of adoption of the Current Expense Budget for 1978, and therefore, the 1978 Budget for the Sheriff's Department has insufficient funds to meet such emergency; and WHEREAS, a certain portion of the funds expended for this purpose will be reimbursed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture; and WHEREAS, Part 52.41 (c), Subpart D of Title II of the Public Works Employment Act of 1976, as amended by the Intergovernmental Anti- recession Assistance Act of 1977 (Title VI), authorizes the expenditure of Antirecession Funds for personnel employed in the maintenance of basic services; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners, Jeffer- son County, that the aforementioned facts constitute an emergency which necessitates a budget extention for the County Sheriff's Department, and VQl J.l ~r.: 0..-..' 6.?C "1 r~,r.~ .. ,_ . v - the estimated i3.mount of funds to be tI,"ansferred and appropriated is as tQllows; 338~21~ao Amount to be reimbursed by the Forest Service~ U.S, bepartment of Agriculture $16,344.72 369~30 Amount to be transferred from the Antirecession Fund $13,170.42 Total Budget Extension $29,515.14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held on said emergency appropriation and that said hearing be held in the County Com- missioner's Chamber, Courthouse, Port Townsend, Washington, on the 24th day of April, 1978, at the hour of 10:OOa.m., and that notice of said hearing be published in the official newspaper of Jefferson County and that, at said hearing any interested taxpayer may appear and be heard for or against the appropriation for such alleged emergency. / frUr day of April, 1978.
