WHEREAS, the P.I.L.T. (payment in lieu of taxes) Program was formed
by the Washington State Association of Counties to organize the Public Lands
Counties to present a unified position on Public Lands issues; and
WHEREAS, a special PILT fund will be created by assessing each PILT
county one percent (1%) of their PILT funds to be used to insure that Wash-
ington State supports the NACo Western Interstate Region's efforts to
resolve Public Lands' issues, to pay travel expenses of members and staff
directly related to PILT issues, to provide research information and assist-
ance to NACo Western Interstate Region and to keep the members and congress-
ional delegation informed on Pfiblic Land issues; and
WHEREAS, the special assessment of 1% of 1977 receipts and total
amount due for Jefferson County is $619.14; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners,
that the Auditor be, and she is hereby authorized to make the PILT assess-
ment a part of the County Commissioner's budget in the future, and to pay
the amount of $619.14 to the Washington State Association of Counties as
Jefferson County's 1978 special assessment of 1% of 1977 receipts.
