Thursday, July 28 9am Sweetwater Water Wheel Parking Lot Sweetwater Creek next to Belfair Elementary School, across highway 3 from the Mary E. Theler Wetlands Nature Preserve Center Also, 95 degrees predicted for Thursday. Though we'll be in the forest, prepare by bringing and drinking lots of water AND pacing yourself. Sweetwater Creek is great place with potential to be a thriving habitat - and will soon be the Sweetwater Creek Water Wheel Park! In this area's 5+ acres there is a flowing creek, leafy tree canopy, and a small pond. However, this is a beautiful place needing love. Ivy and invasive blackberries are doing their best to cover broken down buildings, as well as remnants of a recent trash dumping. This is why we need YOUR HELP at the Sweetwater Creek Water Wheel Park Cleanup this Thursday, July 28th. After our work, we'll gather at nearby Bent Bine Brewery. We’ll strategize upcoming cleanups as we sip the brew. Click the Sweetwater Park button below to learn more about the amazing park project that will soon come and revitalize this special place! Next Work Party: At the Salmon Center 10am-12pm July 29th Join us at a Farm at Water’s Edge volunteer work party! Farm at Water’s Edge is a certified organic farm providing our community with seasonal, fresh produce on a donation only basis. It also serves as an education tool for students and demonstrates how responsible, sustainable agriculture can coexist with salmon habitat. This is a great opportunity to support this community resource, as well as ask any of your garden questions to our knowledgeable staff and participating volunteers! Volunteers can expect to help us weed, harvest, remove invasive species, turn compost, and/or plant in the garden. Please remember to check the weather before you come. We recommend wearing closed toed shoes, sun protection and bringing a water bottle. This a great opportunity for all! Individuals, friends, families and kids. See you on the Farm!
