Questions for Dr Allison Berry:
1. A friend tested positive and attended an outdoor event— mask on. He told everyone who approached that he was positive.
But his wife tested negative so did not stay masked. Is that a safe practice? Could she be a carrier without symptoms?
2. Is there any data regarding the risk of transmission of COVID-19 as a result of train travel? Specifically, I am interested in longer trips with a small private bedroom or roomette.
Masking when in common spaces on the train seems essential, but is there a risk of transmission even in closed private spaces because of recirculated air?
When traveling for 24 hours or more, masks must be removed for eating/drinking and probably for sleeping. Does this present a significant risk for exposure?
3. Regarding Paxlovid - How strong is the evidence supporting its use in vaccinated individuals? In light of the frequent "rebound" infections that are seen with this medication, does
it seem likely that the dosage or dosing schedule will be changing in the near future?
4. Can you comment on the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis with monoclonal antibodies (Evusheld) for immune suppressed individuals?
5. What are the ingredients in Novavax as I cannot find them online. Do they still put aluminum, formaldehyde, etc. in vaccines?
6. How do you decide to use antivirals or monoclonal antibodies to treat covid?
7. You have said Omicron 5 avoids antibodies so why bother to get a booster?
