This grant was for $2M over 4 years. Ok, that was the bad news delivered right up front.:) The good news is the current RCORP-Implementation grant carries the BHC's work through August 2023, and I think the effort that went into putting together this latest grant could be tweaked to pursue funding from other sources. As you'll see in the attached grant application debrief document, while we scored 92 out of 100, the application reviewers didn't find it clearly indicated how, or the extent to which, access to SUD services would increase. If I could resubmit, I'm sure we'd write a better answer to that question:) As I consider the debrief document's feedback, I'd argue that no one can really say the extent to which those services would increase because of the specific work proposed in that grant application. We are already working successfully to increase service access with the current grant thanks to DBH's added MAT services, JHC's waivered providers, and the mobile harm reduction unit that Believe in Recovery is about to launch, etc. What we were proposing to do with the new funding would have been to address a youth behavioral health framework, and attendant challenges around housing and transportation - all very much in the scope of the grant's stated purpose. It is possible in my zeal to be clear and honest about what we were doing with each grant's $$, that I wasn't clear enough that everything proposed in this latest grant builds on what we're accomplishing in the first grant. I believe at the end of the day, earlier successful interception, regardless of whether we increase SUD service provision, moves us in the direction of better outcomes for our community members. I know there will be other opportunities for the BHC, and I hope you all will continue the collaborative work we've grown together over the past few years. Thanks to everyone who signed on to support the work that was proposed, and know I wish everyone the best going forward! Take care, - Lori (Note the email and phone # below if you'd like to stay in touch!)
