PORT TOWNSEND, WA . 98368 POSITION: Support Staff Clerk Hire JOB SUMMARY: This position provides administrative, clerical and program support on a temporary or relief (as needed) basis. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Department reception; answer and respond to telephone and in-person inquiries from clients and the public; receive and distribute mail. .~ ~~ 2. General office and clerical support, including word processing, transcription, filing, copying, FAX, office equipment. 3. Nursing program support, including clinic reception, client registration and check out; appointment scheduling. 4. Environmental health counter support, including reception and general office support functions. 5. Other office support functions as may be assigned. CONDITIONS: This position provides administrative, clerical and program support on a temporary or relief basis. The employee must be generally available to work "as needed." The employee must have a valid Washington State drivers license and a reliable vehicle. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: . SUPPORT STAFF CLERK HIRE PAGE 2 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and EXDerience High School education or equivalent and three years office experience; experience in dealing with the public. Knowledae. skills and Abilities Typing skill at 50 wpm; data entry skills; transcription. Skill in operating a variety of office machines, including computer skills and working knowledge of Word Perfect, database and spreadsheet applications. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to accurately perform arithmetic calculations. Knowledge of general secretarial procedures. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and English usage. Ability to organize, set priorities and coordinate activities. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to exercise independent judgement. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients and the general pUblic. WORlt SCHEDULE: Must be available to work full days, approximately 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, on an "as needed" basis. Approximately 30 work days are anticipated during the initial period of October through December, 1992. After January 1, 1993, availability on an as-needed basis is required. [920923.01]
