HomeMy WebLinkAbout008 73 JOINT RESOLUTION * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * CLALLAM COUNTY COMMISSIONERS and JEFFERSON COUNTY C01-1!lISSIONERS JEFFERSON COUNTY RESOLUTION NO. 8-73 mIEREAS, Federal Grant Programs to the rnunincipa1 governments under the Federal Omnibus Crime Control Act, sometimes known as the Safe Streets Act, has pointed out a need to establish a method for planning, developing, and coordinating and maintaining criminal justice improvement programs within the regional bounda~J of C1a11am and Jefferson Counties and; ~vHEREAS, the C1a11am and Jefferson County Commissioners accept the recommendation of the C1a11am and.Jefferson County's Sheriffs, the C1a11am and ~Tefferson County Prosecuting Attorneys and the Washington State Planning and Community Affairs Agency, Law and Jus'tice Planning Office, to establish a regional law and justice advisory board as an advisory agency to those governments and agencies \'li thin the bounda~ of Cla11am and Jefferson Counties, which are providing criminal justice services. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of C1a11am County and the Board of County Commiss- ioners of Jefferson County ti1at there be established in C1a11am and Jefferson Counties a REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADVISORY BOARD to be known as the CLALLAH-JEFFERSON REGIONAL CRI1-1INAL LTUSTICE ADVISORY BOARD, which shall be comprised of the following officers; CRIMINAL JUSTICE ~lliMBERS 1. C1a11am County Sheriff 2. Jefferson County Sheriff 3. Port Angeles Chief of Police 4. Port Townsend Chief of Police 5. Sequim Chief of Police 6. Bureau of Indian Affairs Regional Chief Law Enforcement Officer I~ 7. Washington State Patrol, Port Angeles Detachment, Sgt. Morrisson . 8. Regional Director of Juvenile Probation 9. Clallam County prosecuting Attorney 10. Clallam-Jefferson County Superior Court District 11. Regional Probation and Parole Officer, Division of Institutions ELECTED OFFICIALS 1. Clallam County Co~nissioner (one) 2. Jefferson County Commissioner (one) 3. Mayor of the City of Port Angeles 4. Mayor of the .city of Port Townsend 5. Mayor of the City of Sequim 6. Mayor of the City of Forks L'AY HE11BERS Up to four (4) citizens selected at large by the Clallam County Prosecutor and the County Sheriffs. and the County Commissioners listed above. Be it FURTHER RESOLVED by the Boards of County Commissioners of Clallam and Jefferson Counties; 1. That the Planning Director for the Regional Law and Justice'Planning Office be CRAIG A. RITCHIE. 2. That the Regional Law and Justice Planning Director be authorized on this day to submi t a letter to the Law and Justice Planning Office of the State of Washington requesting the use of $11,962.00. 3. That the attached Budget be designated as the official statement of how the Boards of County Commissioners intend the Grant will be used. 4. That the Clallam-Jefferson Regional Planning Director be designated "Project Director" for purposes of administrating this program and managing this budget. 5. That the Clallam County Auditor be designated Financial Officer for purposes of administrating this program and managing it's budget. ,. f.... _..1... .. 6. That the Regional Criminal Justice Advisory Board be designated as the official advisory body and fact finding agency to the Boards of County Commissioners regarding matters of criminal justice planning.
