WHEREAS, it hereby found and declared that Hood Canal
is a unique body of water, exceptional in its water purity
and in its senSitivity to possible pollution; and

ecological mechanism in which changes that affect'one part
of the canal can also affect all other~~arts; and
\~HEREAS, knowledge about Hood Canal 'and its physical
and
environmental characteristics is a helpful addition to
proper planning and enlightened use of this 'region;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that there is hereby
created, pursuant to RCW 36.70.060, a regional advisory
planning commission, known as the Hood C~nalAdvisory
Commission. Said commission shall concern itself with the

entire Hood Canal drainag,e basin', located within Jefferson,
Mason and Kitsap Counties, and shall commence and carryon
a regional study program\'ihich shall include an assimilation
of existing information and the gathering of new information
necessary for (1) an inventory of the physical and biological
characteristics'of the'district; (2) a"continualry 'up'dated

survey of existing water and land uses within the district;
(3) the various potential uses within the regional district
and their relative 'effect on the natural environment and
relative benefits and detriments to the public.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said commission'shall
