WHEREAS, the BOARD OF JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
are in agreement with the Office of Economic Opportunity and the Clallam-Jeff-
erson County Community Action Council regarding a summer work program
for College age students, and
WHEREAS, agreeable arrangements have been made with Commun-
ity Action Program (CAP) for number of students to be hired, districts from
which they will be hired, and amount of funds to be paid by Jefferson County,
to-wit:
Port Townsend
Chirriacum
Quilcene, Brinnon

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS,
JEFFERSON COUNTY , WASHINGTON, authorize $2,000. OO(two thousand dollars)
to be paid to the Clallam-Jefferson County Community Action Agency from the
Jefferson County Road Fund for funding the Bi-County Youth Opportunity Project.

The office of Economic Opportunity funds innovative programs through
Community Action Agencies with the provision thit local government
participate financially with them.
After establishing youth councils in each county and listening to what
the youth had to say in regard to their needs, the C18llam Jefferson County
Community Action Agency submitted a youth program to O.E.O. based on the
needs as stated by' the youth groups. O.E.O. has approved and tunded the
youth n-eeds aSS'esSIlent for $14,500.00
This program 'Provides for an auto mechanics trainer-coordinator (tull time )
for the training facility operated by Boy Scouts of AJIlerica and the !MCA.
In addition, it will ~rovide summer jobs for 12 low-income college age
students for 10 weeks and 2 students (t time) for 10 weeks. Included in this
will be 10 jobs with local government and 4 jobs in the "Rent A Kid" program.
Last year" Rent A Kid " provided 4)8 jobs to youths in C18llam and Jefferson
Counties.
Federal tunding is dependent on local government participation. The;
Clallam Jefferson Community Action Agency is requesting the City of Port i
Angeles, Clal18m County, and Jefferson County to participate to the extent
of $ 2000.00 each for this needed youth opportunity project.
