RFLAmG to hazardous traveling conditio~ on State Highway 101 along Hood Canal
through Brinnon.
WHEREAS, the above-aamed Highway services -.ny State Parks, the Ol3mPic Rational-
Park and the entire Olympic Penillsula. complex, and
WHERElS, the above-named Highway is of prime ingress and egress for traffic
generated by the increasing number of tourists attracted to this area, and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Commissioners, the Jefferson County Sherif'f and
the Washington state Patrol strive to maintain a high priority for safety for the
traveling public on this Highway, and
Wffli:R,R4S, the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners have been well intoned
of accidents and fatalities that have OCC\lJ'red on the aboV'e-ruuaed Highway, and
WIIlmEAS, the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners have recognized for some
time the need. for a new ambulance to serve the traveling public on State Highway 101
as Brinnon is 40 miles from the nearest hospital.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Jefferson County CoBDissioners
that they publicly endorse and encourage the Washington State Department of Health,
Education and Welfare to take the necessary steps to obtain Federal _tehi.ng funds
for the Brinnon Booster Club of Washington (a non profit corporation) to obtain a
new ambulance (type recommended by Mr. Delahunt of the Department of Social and
Health Semces, Division of Health, in a letter dated April 15, 1971) to carry on
this urgently needed volunteer service.
This resolution 1a::'necessary for the health, welfare and safety of the citizens
of Jefferson County and the traveling public of the state and nation.

Enclosed is a copy of Resolution No.41-71, approved and signed by the Board
of Jefferson County Commissioners, on Monday, November 22, 1971, publicly
endorsing and encouraging the Washington State Department of Health, Education
and Welfare to take the necessary steps to obtain Fedet"al matching funds for the
Brinnon Booster Club to obtain a new ambulance. This will give the Booster Club
the capability of rendering an urgently needed volunteer service.
Any assistance you can give in behalf of this project will be greatlyappreci-
ated.
