In the Matter of Creating)
A Deparlment of Public Works )
~IEREAS, Recent legislation enacted by the Washington State Legislature has
increased the County responsibility to perforra items of public work, and
WHEREAS, because of these increased responsibilities the pKtsently organized
County Road Deparlment is now and will ,be increasingly more involved in
public work programs which pertain to other than road and street problems,
and
\-JHEREAS, It is now consi~red necessary and advisable to create an agency
within Jefferson County in order to provide~proper direction and control
over the various public works activities of'the County,

NOW, BE rr HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of Je.fferson County Commissioners
of Jefferson County that a PUBLIC \~ORKS DEPART}'fENT be and is hereby established
and the Jefferson County road engineer shall be designated as the Jefferson
County Director of Public Works in addition to the duties charged to the County
Road Engineer by State Law,
