Subject: Stream Buffer and Stormwater Permit
Good morning Mr. Huff,
I am emailing about your stormwater management permit to remove trees on your property at 203 Tala Shore
Drive. Your case number is ZON2022-00034.
I reviewed your case with my supervisor, who determined that there is a mapped stream on your property. Is the
stream present? If the stream is not present, we can schedule an inspection to confirm that it does not run on your
property.
If the stream is on your property, Jefferson County Code Chapter 18.22.630(5)(b) requires a 50 ft protective buffer
from the stream’s ordinary high watermark.
There are two options for continuing the permit with the buffer. First, you could choose not to remove trees that
are within 50 feet of the of the stream. Not removing those particular trees would be the quickest option.
The second option would be hiring a wildlife biologist to create a Habitat Management Plan that meets all the
criteria listed in Jefferson County Code 18.22.950(3), available online at
https://www.codepublishing.com/WA/JeffersonCounty/#!/JeffersonCounty18/JeffersonCounty1822.html#18.22.950
Please let me know if the stream is present, and if it is, which option you would like to pursue for this permit.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
H Smith, MPP
