SUBJECT: MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) re: Amending Appendix A — Wage
Table 2020 & 2021 of the Sheriffs Administrative Staff Collective Bargaining
Agreement, and Implementing Pay Equity Adjustments for the Sheriff's
Administrative Staff Based on the Results of the Total Compensation Study
CI
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Cabot Dow: Teamsters Local #589
The Sheriff's Administrative Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement, Appendix A — Wage Table needs to be
amended, and pay equity adjustments need to be made for this job classification that was identified in the
Total Compensation Study as being among the most severely out of range with similar job classifications in
our comparable counties.
ANALYSIS:
Jefferson County initiated a Total Compensation Study project to compare the total compensation of job
classifications in Jefferson County with similar job classifications in its seven comparable counties to help
identify job classifications where the greatest inequities exist. The County and Teamsters negotiated
regarding the implementation of the results of the Total Compensation Study. The attached Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) was agreed to by the employees represented by Teamsters. The Teamsters approved the
MOA on January 31, 2020.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The County set aside funding in the 2020-2021 Biennial Budget to pay for equity adjustments for those job
classifications most severely out of range with our comparable counties. These adjustments will positively
affect 3 Teamster represented employees.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and sign the Memorandum of Agreement.
