This pertains to the proposed land exchange between
the County and the State in order to provide a County-

had between me and the A.ttorney General concerning the
legal entanglements in which we have become involved
in order to accomplish the desired attainment. Bert,
George and Lyall should read this correspondence betore
acting hereon. However, I urge the adoption ot the
Resolution because and notwithstanding, it we are stuck)
the jolly tax payers will be only out ot pocket the
cost ot publication ot this resolution, which only has
to be published once in the Pucker Street Gazette.
I teel I am on solid legal ground, but am always

Dear George:
On April 5, 1960 the Board of Natural Resources approved the exchange
of State grant lands, described as the S~ S~ of Section 8, and the
N~ NvJ~ of Section 17, TotYnship 30 North, Range 1 West, for Jefferson
County lai1.ds described as the SEt t-YI'J'!;; of Section 15, HE:;: lTt-J3,; of
Section 26, Township 27 North, Range 1 West, NE~ lm\ of Section 33 and
the rnv~ rnv~ of Section 34, Township 28 North, Range 1 West, and the SE~; N~\
and NE?;; SEt of Section 12, To,vnshi'p 28 North, Range 2. \-lest.
Our attorney has asked that the County provide the department with a
Title Policy to the County lands' for a minimum amount of $5,000.00, or
an abstract showing that there are no claims outstanding against the
County lands involved. The State tvill issue a Quit-Clain1 deed and
does not provide Title Insurance, however there is no question of
title since the lands were transferred directly to the State in the
original land grant, consequently there can be no dispute over the
State's ovmership.
As soon as you provide us with assurance that the County title is clear
I will issue a deed for the State lands. I would also like to have
either the original deed, or a copy of it, for presenting to our
attorney for his guidance in preparing the deed to the State property.
