RESOLUTION NO. C~
Whereas, it has been made to appear to the Board of County
Commissioners of Jefferson County, Washington, from an examina-
tion of the itemized budget estimates for the year 1951, and

from the probable revenues and resources, and ~ the mandatory
expenses required by law for the functioning of the county
governDient of Jefferson County, Washington, that funds from
current expense levy will be insufficient to meet such reqUirements,
and,
Whereas, under the provisions of Chapter 253, laws of 1945,
State of Washington the boards of County Commdssioners are authorized
and empowered to levy taxes at a rate in excess of ten mills as
provided in said act when authorized to do so by the electors of said
county by special election; and,
Whereas, it appears to the board of County Commdssioner~ for
Jefferson County, State of Washington, that a special election for the
purpose of presenting to the electors of said county the following
proposition should be held,
Be it therefore resolved that pursuant to authority embraced in
said Chapter 253, Laws of Washington, 1945,that a special election
be held in the County of Jefferson and the various voting precincts
thereof on Tuesday the l2th day of September, 1950, which day and date
be and the same hereby fixed as the date upon which said election shall
be held and shall be voted upon by the qualified voters of said county
the following proposition:
"Shall the board of County Commissioners for Jefferson County,
State of Washington, be authorized to levy taxes for the year 1951 at
the rate of 3.10 mills upon the dollar of assessed valuation of said

Jefferson County, in excess of the County levy empowered by chapter
253, Laws of State of Washington 1945, for the purpose of permitting
said County government to meet its obliga~ons for mandatory and govern-
mental expenses required by law during the year 1951."

who desires to vote against said proposition shall place an "x" in
the square to the right of the word "no". "
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the election board of Jefferson
County, Washington give notice hereof for two consecutive weeks by
publication in the Port Townsend Leader and posting in the manner
provided by law for giving notice of general elections and that said
election be conducted in the manner provided by law for holding
general election~~
