A RESOLUTION of the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson
County, Washington, employing counsel for certain services
in connection with the issuance and sale of $150,000 of
general obligation bonds of the County.
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and advisable that Jefferson
County, Washington, issue its general obligation bonds in the principal
sum of $150,OOO for the purpose of providing part of the funds to
construct a bridge to connect Indian and Marrowstone Islands to the
mainland; and
WHEREAS, the Constitution and Laws of the State of Washington
provide that the question of whether or not said bonds may be issued
for such purpose must be submitted to the qualified electors of the
county for their ratification or rejection; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and advisable that bond counsel
skilled in such matters be retained to draw the resolutions, notices
and other documents necessary for the issuance and sale of said bonds
and to give their opinion as to the validity thereof at the time of
their sale;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Jefferson County, Washington, as follows:
That Preston, Thorgrimson & Horowitz, attorneys at law of Seattle,
Washington, be and they are hereby employed to perform the services
above set forth, and as compensation therefor the county agrees to pay
them the sum of Five Hundred Fifty Dollars ($550) and, in addition
thereto, agrees to reimburse said counsel for any out-of-pocket
expenses such as telephone tolls which they may incur in the per-
formance of said services; provided, however, that in the event the

WHEREAS, by Chapter 182, 1947 Session Laws of the State of
Washington, the undersigned, as the duly elected, qualified and
acting Auditor of Jefferson County, Washington, is made the ex
officio supervisor of all county elections; and
WHEREAS, Jefferson County, by Resolution No.~~ of its Board
of Commissioners, has found and declared that an emergency exists
requiring the calling of a special election to be held within the
county on November 7, 1950, for the purpose of submitting a pro-
position to the qualified electors of the county of whether or not
it should issue its general obligation bonds in the principal amount
of $150,OOO for the purpose of providing funds to pay part of the
cost of constructing a bridge connecting Marrowstone and Indian
Islands with the mainland; and
WHEREAS, by.,said resolution the Board of Commissioners of said
county requested the undersigned to also find the existence of said
emergency and to call and conduct said special election to be held
on said date in conjunction with and at the same precincts and
polling places within the county and with the same election officials
for each precinct as for the general county and state election to be
held on said date;
NOW, THEREFORE, the undersigned hereby FINDS, ORDERS and DIREOTS
as follows:
That an emergency does exist requiring the calling of the above
described special election for the County of Jefferson, Washington,
and said special election shall be held on November 7, 1950, at the

same precincts and polling places within the county and with the same
election officials for each precinct as those precincts, polling
places and election officials fixed for the county and state general
election to be held on said date, for the submission of the following
proposition to the qualified electors of the county:
PROPOSITION
Shall Jefferson County, Washington, issue its general
obligation serial bonds in the sum of not to exceed
$150,000 for the purpose of paying part of the cost
of the construction of a bridge connecting Indian and
Marrowstone Island~ in said county with the mainland
at a point approximately 500 feet from the northwesterly
end of the Portage Canal, said bonds to bear interest
at a rate of not to exceed 6% per annum, to mature in
from 2 to not to exceed 15 years from date of issue,
and to be payable out of county road funds, all as more
specifically prOVided in Resolution NO.~'/~ of the
Board of County Commissioners adopted October~, 1950?

proposition for the issuance of said bonds shall fail to carry, said
counsel shall be paid the sum of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150)
only, which shall be compensation in full for their services rendered
to the date of such election.
The county further agrees to furnish ~said counsel at their office
in Seattle, Washington, with a complete certified transcript of all
proceedings taken in the matter of the issuance and sale of said bonds.
ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County,
