Veena Dharmaraj, Director of Transportation in Massachusetts, leads efforts to accelerate the electrification of transit fleets and the adoption of electric vehicles through policy advocacy,
public outreach, and coalition building; she also supports the clean buildings campaign at the Massachusetts Sierra Club. Previously, Veena worked for the Cambridge Compact for a Sustainable
Future and the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC).
Christy McGillivray is the political and legislative director for Sierra Club's Michigan Chapter. She oversees the organization's lobbying efforts, including the campaign to shutter
the Enbridge Line 5 oil pipeline, and coordinates the Chapter's volunteer political committee. Christy formerly worked for Clean Water Action, AFT Michigan, and was a teacher at Eastpointe
High School near Detroit.
Dave Cortez, Director of the Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter, has been organizing in the Texas environmental movement for 16 years. He grew up and learned organizing on the frontera, where
industrial pollution, poverty, gentrification, racism and the border wall are seen as intersecting issues. Dave is supporting staff and volunteers across Texas who are organizing to
center racial justice and equity alongside frontline communities directly impacted by polluting industries.
