HomeMy WebLinkAbout043 05 QC:~ 12, CD ,'r 'If,' j ',~ I (eCL~ ' I Cj{O.J She;'; \--~ J JEFFERSON COUNTY STATE OF WASHINGTON In the Matter of: Declaring a Jefferson County Burning Ban on Open Debris Burning Other than Recreational Fires Based Upon the Department of Natural Resources Fire Danger Index } } } } } } RESOLUTION NO. 43-05 WHEREAS, Jefferson County has the authority vested under Chapter 173-425-050 [3] [iii] Washington Administrative Code "Curtailments" for Jefferson County to declare a fire danger burn ban in areas under its statutory jurisdiction, in addition to the statutory authority vested to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the Olympic Clean Air Agency; and, WHEREAS, Jefferson County has enacted the authority to establish a regulatory program per Resolution No. 42-05 adopted on June 28, 2005; and, WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Fire Chiefs have requested that the County Commissioners implement a countywide burning ban during the summer months of July and August of2005, with additional months if needed; and, WHEREAS, fire precaution and safeguards against hazards to life safety and property from the dangerous conditions associated with fires protects citizens, fire fighters, emergency responders, and private property; and, WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources assesses fire prevention, maintains a fuel management mapping system, and compiles a fuel moisture map; and, WHEREAS, The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners hereby wish to promote the health, safety and welfare of its citizens under the statutory purposes of said Washington Clean Air Act; and, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners hereby declare a burning ban on debris disposal open burning other than recreational fires as defined in WAC 173-425 concurrent with the fire danger rating system ofthe Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Should the DNR issue a moderate level for fire danger (or any other level indicating a greater risk of fire) and recommend to local jurisdictions a burning ban, then this ban on burning open debris other than recreational fires shall immediately become effective. . 5 July Approved thIS _ day of ,2005. ......-~.'-~~ ~-." ~ ,/~~'\"1'1 CO"'4t/ ", (. . i SAAV 'f -.- .
