Attached please find information regarding a petition to vacate a platted alley which I
would like to have presented at your meeting scheduled for September 1, 2004.
The petitioner wishes to vacate the entire platted alley lying within Block 145, Irondale
No. 6. This property is south of Prospect Avenue, between S. Victory Avenue and S.
Stromberg Avenue (approximately 3 blocks past Kala Point Dr). He states that he would
like to acquire this property to reduce the setback requirement (setbacks are currently 20
feet from a right of way, but only 5 feet from adjacent properties), thereby allowing him
to build a garage . Petitioner's claim is valid and we have recently processed several
vacations of these alleys along Prospect Drive with no complications — we do not expect
any negative reaction to this request. All evidence at this time would indicate this
petition will be approved.

VACATE A COUNTY ROAD OR ALLEY
Attached is a description of a proposal to vacate a county road or alley that may come
within your department's jurisdiction. To be considered, a recommendation from your
department must be made by September 8, 2004.

REQUEST
The request is to vacate all of the platted alley, approximately 12' wide by 200' long, lying
within block 145, between lots 1 thru 8 and lots 9 and 36 as recorded in the plat of Irondale
No. 6, volume 2, page 139, records of Jefferson County, Washington, lying in Section 35,
Township 30 North, Range 1 West, W.M.
The principal petitioner states the following reason for requesting the alley vacation:
"Our new manufactured home must be installed length -wise north to south
because of the design of the septic system (SEP02-00225). The door from the utility room
that would enter the garage is at the south end of the home where the garage must be
constructed. Due to the 20-foot setback from the alley to the south of the parcel, there is
no room for the garage. If the alley is vacated, we will gain 6 feet of property and reduce
the setback to 5 feet. This will provide room for the garage."
