Good morning Commissioner Eisenhour,
Following last year’s passage of a Clean Fuel Standard by the Washington state legislature, the Department of Ecology has been developing the rules under which the program will operate
when it goes into effect in January. We and our partners have been advocating for the strongest possible Clean Fuels trajectory possible under the law: a 20% reduction in carbon intensity
by 2034. We’re happy to report that the draft rule of the Clean Fuel Standard regulations includes this trajectory.
To show the breath of support for Ecology finalizing the rule with this important target intact, we have a created a joint letter of support <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dftj1E36C86vpwzFRmr-W
XiRmkulS1EAu8BU1UTjnqM/edit> from organizations, businesses and local elected officials. We would like to invite you to add your name in support, by this Monday, August 29th. You should
be able to add your name and title to the letter directly, or you’re welcome to reply to me and we will be happy to add you.
If you would like to submit your own comments to Ecology on the draft rule <https://ecology.wa.gov/Regulations-Permits/Laws-rules-rulemaking/Rulemaking/WAC-173-424-455> , they are due
by August 31st.
Thanks --Brian
