I just wanted to take a moment and extend our gratitude to the ICG (+beyond) for an engaging meeting last Thursday. I think this was a great activity for the community to work alongside all of you to find some creative solutions to our ongoing housing crisis. I will say, many were skeptical of how the day would play out, but dang! that was awesome- so thank you all for showing up! One of my volunteers was very excited, “ I was at a table with the mayor and city manager- and they listened to me!” So a kind reminder, never underestimate the power of feeling heard. As the Leader coverage highlights <https://www.ptleader.com/stories/intergovernmental-group-rehashes-housing-crisis-with-the-community,85576> , there was a lot of talk and a little uncertainty to where it would all lead. I don’t say this as a pessimist, I say this as someone in partnership with all of you, knowing the hill to climb is steep, and it really will take all of us working together. As many were quick to point out, if it can’t happen in our great community, where can it happen? I look forward to seeing the ‘report out’ of post-its, thoughts, and concerns from the group at large. I can only speak for myself, but I know many will agree, I have a lot to learn when it comes to affordable housing. What will work? What won’t? What audacious goals can we attempt and not be in fear of failure? HSN will be hosting other communities that have asked themselves these very questions, via Zoom meetings, over the course of the fall and winter months. When we have more information (like dates and approaches), I will be sure to inform y’all. Afterall, we don’t know what we don’t know.. Lastly, I will likely be extending an ask to many of you to join us at session 4 of the Under the Tent series that will focus on ‘All Things ADUs’ on Thursday, September 29th from 5-7pm. It will be great to have many of you as subject matter experts sharing resources and solutions to topics such as permitting, sanitation, water use, and more. Please be on the lookout for an invite from an HSN volunteer shortly. More details in the flyer, attached. Until then, I want to share some great photos of the last UTT meeting from Deja View Photography. The newest pictures of the ICG Under the Tent meeting are found #26-#56. Download whatever you want, just please give Deja View Photography credit. https://www.dejasphotos.com/p182971219#h24d39e89 The password is Liz. I look forward to engaging with you all more as we work towards our very common goal. Please extend this email +/or gratitude to any staff or ally who supported last week’s event.
