Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ As you've probably seen, yesterday Senator Murray and Governor Inslee released a final report on replacing the services of the lower Snake dams, accompanied by a set of recommendations for moving forward. They also each issued a press release. These documents made some essential points crystal clear (quotations are from the Recommendations document): •Absent bold, comprehensive measures, the future of our salmon, and orcas, is “dire”, but extinction is “categorically unacceptable” •“The status quo is not a responsible option” •“The science is clear that – specific to the Lower Snake River – breach of the dams would provide the greatest benefit to the salmon” •“...with adequate investment and coordination - it is possible to replace most of the services and benefits provided by the Dams in the event of breach and to mitigate the loss of others” Here's a link to Senator Murray's statement: Senator Murray Statement on Findings of Murray-Inslee Joint Federal-State Process - Senator Patty Murray (senate.gov) <https://www.murray.senate.gov/sena tor-murray-statement-on-findings-of-murray-inslee-joint-federal-state-process/> . And, here's Gov. Inslee's statement, which includes links to both their recommendations and to the final report on replacing the dams' services. It's important that Senator Murray and Governor Inslee receive broad support for their leadership and encouragement to continue moving forward. And they especially need applause and statements of support from the other members of the Washington delegation. Mark Ozias sent the attached letter to Rep. Kilmer seeking his engagement and support in the work Murray and Inslee are doing. Similar messages to Derek from other elected leaders in the 6th CD would be extremely helpful.
