Re -surfacing on the play court did not occur and will be postponed to the first dry/warm spell in 2006. Staff is working with the Indian Island Military Base to salvage playground equipment. Molly has evaluated the equipment that will be donated to the Parks Department and considers it in excellent condition and sturdy enough to be located at Quilcene and possibly other parks within the county system. The playground equipment is made by "Game Time" which is an excellent manufacturer of playground equipment. Judi Mackey brought up the need for a "rest area" in Quilcene. Currently the Chamber of Commerce uses the Forest Service building on weekends to distribute information. Perhaps the park could be used for a Rest Area in a partnership with the Department of Transportation.
