Good morning, Commissioner Brotherton,
Mason PUD 1 is applying for a federal USFS grant for whole-system vegetation management and danger tree removal for PUD 1’s power lines. This is from their Wildfire Mitigation grant
opportunity. It would greatly strengthen Mason PUD 1’s application if we had support from Jefferson BOCC or DEM.
Would you please ask your seatmates if they would approve a letter of support for us to include in our application, which is due 9/27? I attached a sample letter for your executive staff
to wordsmith. Aggressive vegetation management will benefit south Jefferson County residents from Seamount to Brinnon, as trees are the main cause of outages for them, and wildfire
is a pervasive risk for us all.
